Jai Wolf
Evoking the heart-tugging feeling of a cinematic score, Jai Wolf makes electronic pop records that conjure a dazzling spectrum of emotions. Since breaking out with the 2015 indie dance certified Gold hit “Indian Summer,” the Bangladeshi-born, New York-raised producer (real name Sajeeb Saha) has carved out a singular lane by balancing anthemic compositions that borrow from the grandiosity of EDM with introspective songwriting, whose sunny earworm melodies cut right through the chest.
With his critically-acclaimed debut 2019 album, The Cure To Loneliness, he established his knack for genre-blending innovation and captivated listeners with nostalgia-filled indie dance records. His versatility as a musician has drawn in a global audience and led him to become the first Bangladeshi-American headlining artist to sell out Red Rocks Amphitheatre in June 2022.
Jai Wolf released his sophomore album The Red Eye Home in 2024. The Red Eye Home starts with the instrumental electronic track “Flight Log 822,” allowing Jai’s
intricate and detailed production skills to shine, setting the tone for the collection. Jai explores a multitude of sounds throughout the record, in songs like “Melancholy Ave., God Only Knows (feat. SAYAK DAS)” and the album’s closing song and title inspiration, “Red Eye (feat. rei brown)”. Each song highlights Jai’s musical techniques, blending EDM with other genres such as indie rock and R&B.
Straddling the zone between private reflection and euphoric release, the new music is part of what Jai refers to as the Blue Babu era, a musical phase characterized by a high-energy sound and a focus on self-reflection. The Blue Babu era is also marked by an uptempo, energetic sound that blends house, R&B, new wave, and synth-pop.
The Red Eye Home is the central point of this era, as the collection exhibits piercing lyricism. It opens with explosive dance breakdowns, ranging from house and R&B to new wave and synth-pop. “A big theme of this album is looking deeply inward, assessing all your feelings, and how to reckon with them”, Jai explains.
