Independent since 2008
Our ambition for Mom+Pop has been and always will be a collaborative label with transparency and deep respect for our artists’ creative controls.
When our founder Michael Goldstone started the company in 2008, he came up with 56 possible names for the label – 55 of which were New York-centric, inspired by 4th & B’way Records. His 56th idea, and the one finally landed on, was Mom+Pop Music.
In our early years, we opened up in Times Square at 49th and 7th across the street from the famous Brill Building, where so many classic hits were written. Mom+Pop’s roster and team grew, including bringing on present-day co-owner Thaddeus Rudd.
From the beginning, we made a name for ourselves releasing talented and fiercely independent artists. As musically important as they were self-driven, their independence fueled ours.
Since then, Mom+Pop has continued to build its musical legacy with wildly talented artists, releasing impactful records, earning Grammy nods and other industry recognitions, and selling out iconic venues.
In 2013, we moved to our NYC location off Madison Square Park, and have since opened a Los Angeles office and assembled an international team across the globe.
After 15 years in business, to continue working with remarkable artists is our fortune. We’re also unbelievably grateful for all of the music fans who have supported our artists and therefore our label. It is music fans who keep the lights on – and inspire us for all that is to come.
