Porter Robinson
In 2014, Porter Robinson was 22 years old when he released one of the most important electronic albums of our time. That album is called Worlds and it turned the electronic music scene on its head. With a decade passed, the album has stood the test of time, landing many ‘Best Of The Decade’ lists from critics and hailed by fans as an iconic, game-changing album.
Fast forward to 2017, when Robinson returned under a new moniker, Virtual Self. The project earned him his 1st Grammy nomination and lead the path to launching his new self-curated festival Second Sky, which sold out 30K tickets in less than a day leaving thousands more on the waiting list. This feat was all the proof he needed to know that his fans stand by and support his journey as he continues to grow as an artist.
In 2021, Porter Robinson released his sophomore album Nurture. Having led with singles “Get Your Wish” “Something Comforting” “Mirror” “Look At The Sky” and “Musician,” the highly anticipated album, over six years in the making, has 14 tracks total. The album received high praise from fans & media alike, solidifying Robinson as a dynamic artist whose work reflects the ever-evolving human behind the name. A true masterpiece, Nurture is an eloquently produced body of work that conveys a sense of contentment and newly-found inner peace.
In 2024, Porter began a new era with a new single and music video, “Cheerleader.” The action packed music video is an outburst of vibrancy and emotion scene after scene, and presents Porter front-and-center, realizing his truest, most gripping performance to date. “Cheerleader” is a buzzy pop anthem with a blistering synth line and shout-along chorus that will entice day-one fans and new audiences alike.
On July 26th, Porter Robinson released his highly anticipated third studio album SMILE! 😀 via Mom+Pop.
Porter’s most ambitious and vulnerable album to date, SMILE! 😀 is laden with social commentary on the
paradox of modern artistry, internet culture, and celebrity. The album untangles Porter’s complicated
relationship with fame in the digital age, and the uneasy balance between authenticity and performance – from Porter’s juxtaposed position on trendsetting with “Kitsune Maison Freestyle” to his views on fandom on “Cheerleader”. SMILE! 😀 is a 10-track display of the maximalist hyperpop, alternative, pop punk, and indie styles that define Robinson’s new era, as premiered by Robinson at a sold-out intimate listening party at Echoplex in Los Angeles, where he played the album in full to fans for the first time.
